Netflix first original series became available for streaming in February.

House of Cards is a political drama about the secrets of Washington.  It stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, and Kate Mara.
Kevin Spacey plays Francis Underwood, the Majority Whip.  After being passed over for Secretary of State by the newly elected President, the representative makes it his mission to bring down the White House.

I'm 5 episodes into the first season and I absolutely love it!  Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are brilliant!

It's the first week of movies released before I was born.  I was sad to see Blazing Saddles, which was available to stream on Netflix for most of 2012, was no longer available.  Other notable movies from 1974 include; The Godfather Part II, Young Frankenstein and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I had a busy week and didn't watch as much as I wanted. Here's what I watched through online streaming services from 1974 this week.

Last week I streamed 2011. I gave my girlfriend the choice this week of 1971, 1981, 1991 or 2001.  She selected 2001.  I immediately dumped in a Cohen Brothers movie and a David Lynch movie - each I have never seen before.  And as the week ended, I still had not watched them.  As I discovered, there are a lot of movies from 2001 available to stream and I just didn't find time to watch all I wanted.  Some of you will probably ask, "why the hell did you pass up on David Lynch and/or Ethan Cohen to watch (fill in the blank).  Well, most of my television/movie viewing is more of a background  thing. While I'm working, I throw a movie on.  Some movies, especially those I've never watched, I want to watch when I can have undivided attention to the film. David Lynch and the Cohen brothers films would fall into this category.  Unfortunately, this is not a daily occurrence.  The good news is I'll have more great movies to watch when 2001 rolls around again.

Ok, enough about directors  and films I didn't watch this week and on to the goofy shit I did watch........each one of these titles were available on Netflix streaming.

I was building up a list of  movies from 2011 that I have been adding to my Netflix steaming queue.  So, I decided to make this my 2011 week.  Films from Bobcat Goldwait, Kevin Smith, Diablo Cody and Richard Linklater. Independent films dominated my week.

Star Wars, Annie Hall, Close Encounters, Smokey and The Bandit, Eraserhead, Saturday Night Fever,  The Spy Who Loved Me, 1977 was a fine year for some of my favorite classics.   But this week wasn't about watching a bunch of movies I have on DVD. It's about what I find to stream from online services available to me this week.
